Accutron Introduces Legacy 505 Watches

Historically Known For Use by Medical Professionals

New York, NY (May 6, 2021) - Accutron continues to showcase their rich heritage through the brand’s reimagined Legacy collection designs. The Legacy 505 models are the latest additions, holding a notable place in history and coming to surface at a time deemed most prominent for frontline workers. Reimagining the 1965 original, the 505 are reissued with the same original Alpha design details and historical significance in mind.

In the 60’s Accutron unveiled its iconic asymmetrical Alpha case shape with the 505 timepiece. Alpha, meaning the first of its kind or socially dominate, was a fitting name for the 505 because the watch itself was both. Exuding to the wearer that they are not only one of a kind, but that they are the only one of their kind was something that resonated with many in the medical field. Accutron, which stands for “accuracy through electronics,” was a popular watch at that time amongst physicians and nurses not only because of this significance, but also due to its unparalleled accuracy.

The 505 in specific became a notable watch because of the cross hairs, which divide the dial into quarters to measure time in 15-second increments. This design was the foundation for the full markings to check blood pressure and pulse throughout the medical industry.

Known to be the original surgeon’s watch and for its use by nurses, the Accutron 505 became an instrumental tool throughout hospitals across the country. “Marking the significant growth of the medical field and commending the hundreds of thousands of people on the frontlines during the recent pandemic, the Legacy 505 timepieces are another reminder of those who have dedicated their lives to helping others,” said Jeffrey Cohen President of Citizen Watch America.

The new Legacy 505 is offered in two models. A silvertone stainless steel case boasts the sleek, standout 33mm Alpha case with crown placement at 4 o’clock. This style, priced at $1,390 has a 3-hand silver white dial with silver-tone applied hour markers and domed sapphire crystal with AR coating and is finished on a black lizard-embossed leather strap. The second features a gold-tone stainless steel 33mm Alpha case with crown placement at 4 o’clock. With a silver white dial and gold-tone applied hour markers, it is offered on a brown croco-embossed leather strap priced at $1,450. Both styles are powered by Accutron’s Swiss-made 26-jewel movement and are limited to 600 pieces each.
