La Palina Cigars, is the ultra-premium handmade cigars that offer a meritage of the finest aged tobacco leaves selected and blended by master artisans. Founded in 1896 by Samuel Paley, the brand was relaunched in 2010 by Sam’s grandson, Bill, the son of CBS founder William S. Paley and socialite/fashion icon Barbara “Babe” Paley. In this episode, our hosts meet with Sam Phillips, president of La Palina Cigars to discuss the ritual of cigar smoking, the craftsmanship behind their premium products and the special collaboration with Accutron.

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

12:28 - The Paley family owned La Palina since 1856 and, in a way, thanks to La Palina they bought their network of radio and TV stations including CBS. How ironic!

14:50 - Who do you think are the new cigar smoking ambassadors today?

28:35 - Most cigars are rolled by women who have lighter hands and generally better touch.
